As dog lovers and dog owners ourselves we know how important it is to have total peace of mind when you go on holiday and leave your dog in the care of someone else.
Our passion to create a home away from home holiday experience for dogs was realized when we purchased our purpose built, rural property in the heart of beautiful rural Waikato farmland. Here our doggie guests enjoy:
* Our full attention and company throughout the day as they roam free over our secure two acre property, including orchard and garden. They can choose to play games, follow us around, lay about with us on the deck, chill out in the “dog office” or find a shady spot to relax in the garden.
* Their own food, prepared for them twice a day. You provide the food your dog normally eats. Breakfast and dinner are served to our doggie guests in their own individual chalet style kennels. This ensures that each dog has the time to eat their own meal, at their own speed without another dog taking a sneaky sample.
* Two exercise sessions daily with other dog guests, or individually. You let us know the length and type of exercise routine your dog normally enjoys and we will endeavor to replicate it. Whether they walk, run, chase balls, swim, stroll in the park or enjoy mountain bush walks, we can make it happen! Check out our facebook page for photos of us on our adventures. Some of our guests prefer to enjoy a trip in the car to a cafe and that suits us as well!
* Cuddles, love and attention – unlimited quantity, available constantly.
There is always a hand available here for a pat; a lap to jump up on for a cuddle, or an arm to enfold and reassure. Your dog’s night time routine will include a brush and a cuddle, followed by a treat and a loving stroke goodnight. Dogs get to choose the bed or sofa they prefer to sleep on. They are welcome to bring a toy or blanket from home that may help them feel more secure over the first few nights.
We are committed to providing wonderful care that meets each dogs individual needs, in a family based environment, where your dogs will enjoy our companionship throughout the day. To reassure Mum’s & Dad’s we keep you updated on your dog’s holiday via our facebook page and maintain contact by mobile to keep you informed at all times.
“Dogs come into our lives to teach us about love, they depart to teach us about loss. A new dog never replaces an old dog; it merely expands the heart. If you have loved many dogs your heart is very big.”
We look forward to expanding our hearts even more and extend a warm welcome for you to visit our dog paradise here in Te Aroha.
And so Penny came home, a gorgeous brindle mixed breed, supposed to grow to a height of about 35 centimetres.
However this was not to be and we found ourselves with a large, extremely active girl, which could have been a problem for this octogenarian couple, but, no, Olwyn took over the training and now we have a well adjusted, well behaved dog who responds to both hand signals and voice commands – a perfect companion.
The daily walk and play with other dogs as provided by Olwyn is the highlight of Penny’s day and keeps her in top condition, and so we have no hesitation in recommending the services provided by “4 THE LOVE OF DOGS”.
